I've been writing country music since 1975, but one of my most meaningful songwriting stories began much later—and in a place I never expected.

I was in Texas, and she was in Argentina when we accidentally met on the internet while playing Yahoo Poker. Neither of us could have known where that chance meeting would lead.

Within six months, she flew from Argentina to Texas to meet me. That incredible beginning inspired me to write one of my most personal songs, “Let's Fly Away Together.”

For me, songwriting has always been about capturing those moments that mean something—the love, the memories, the laughter, the heartaches, and the stories that make life worth remembering.
